John A. Maltry, MD

Dr. Maltry is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstructive surgery. Dr. Maltry’s clinical interest includes primary and revision total hip and knee replacement, with special attention to minimally invasive, anterior approach hip replacement. He has developed and participated in the advancement of hip and knee implants, procedures, and instrumentation over his 26 years in practice. He has performed over 10,000 hip and knee replacements, and has authored over 50 journal articles and research papers. He is currently active in research, teaching and development of outpatient hip and knee replacements.

    Andrew is a provider that works closely with Dr. Maltry in treating conditions of the hip and knee. Andrew is passionate about orthopedic medicine because it offers the opportunity to build relationships with patients, in both clinical and surgical settings, while making concrete differences that allow people to return to an active lifestyle.

    Andrew holds advanced degrees from DePaul University and Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. As an undergraduate he attended the University of Kansas and is an avid Jayhawk basketball fan. Prior to his medical training, Andrew was a professional musician with the US Navy. He had the pleasure of serving aboard the USS Blue Ridge, flagship of the US 7th Fleet in Yokosuka, Japan.

    What is a PA?

    A PA is a healthcare provider that is nationally certified to practice medicine. They are trained in the medical model, very similar to physicians, at the Masters level. As such, PAs can diagnose illness, develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and perform procedures. PAs also work in the operating room as surgical first assist.
